What’s a Pomsky
A Pomsky is a cross between a Pomeranian and a Siberian Husky. They are bred with a female Husky and a male Pomeranian. While there is a significant variation in size and color, the overall impression is of a small but powerful northern-breed dog with substantial bone, small erect ears, and curled tail with typical ‘husky’ markings. The Pomsky’s temperament is comprised of traits from both parents and is highly intelligent, affectionate, and social with a great deal of character.
In March 2019, at an AKC judge sanctioned event, the PomskyFest, it was determined that the American Eskimo is an ideal addition to our lines as we move towards AKC recognition. While the 50/50 mix of a ‘square’ shape from the Siberian Husky and a ‘triangle’ shape from the Pomeranian, the American Eskimo further contributes to the ‘square’ design that works best with this breed. In addition, the Eskimo is acknowledged for adding “improvements to the coat texture, temperament, and shedding season” of this breed.
The standard size is 20-35 lbs (14-18″ tall) with minis weighing between 12-20 lbs (up to 14″) and toy breeds weighing up to 15 lbs (under 10″). Pomskies are heavy for their height, solidly built, with moderate bone. The Pomsky should not be fragile, frail or too heavy to be athletic. Learn more about Pomsky generations.
Special thanks to the APKC for its efforts in establishing a detailed breed standard.
Our kennel is a proud member of the American Pomsky Kennel Club and will be working hard with other like-minded breeders towards AKC recognition!
